To ensure a smooth settlement process, Good Driver Mutuality (GDM) requires all payment recipients to complete the account opening process in advance. If the account setup is not completed, the event cannot move forward to the announcement and sharing stages.
1. Settlement Rules for Different Types of Funds
This section will help you understand when a PlanHolder needs to open an account and the process for CarOwner verification and account opening under various circumstances.
1.1 Transportation/Towing Fees/Storage Fees
- If any of the above fund types need to be settled now or in the future, the funds can only be paid to the PlanHolder.
- Therefore, the PlanHolder account opening process must be completed in advance to receive these funds.
1.2 Repair Funds
- If repair funds need to be settled, the recipient can be either the CarOwner or the PlanHolder.
- The user must select the payment recipient on the event details page of the app and submit the required documents for verification. Once submitted, the account opening process can begin.
Specific Rules:
- If CarOwner is selected as the recipient: CarOwner must open an account to receive the repair funds.
- If PlanHolder is selected to receive funds: PlanHolder must open an account.
Important Notes:
- Regardless of the chosen recipient, if repair funds' settlement are involved in an event, CarOwner verification materials must be submitted first.
- After submitting the required materials, proceed with the account opening process. If the selected recipient already has an account, wait for GDM to complete the manual review. Once approved and the account opened, the repair fund's account opening process for settlement will be completed.
2. Required Materials
Account Opening Materials
- PlanHolder account opening: Requires a photo of the PlanHolder's driver's license.
- CarOwner account setup: Requires a photo of the CarOwner's driver's license.
CarOwner Verification Materials
Situation 1: You are both the PlanHolder and the CarOwner
Documents to submit:
- CarOwner's driver's license photo
- Vehicle's Certificate of Title
Situation 2: You are the PlanHolder, but not the CarOwner
You need to choose the repair funds recipient:
- If the CarOwner will receive the funds:
Documents to submit:
- CarOwner's driver's license photo
- Vehicle's Certificate of Title
If the PlanHolder will receive the funds on behalf of the CarOwner:
Documents to submit:
- Notarized Proof Of Authorization from the CarOwner(GDM will provide a template).
- Vehicle's Certificate of Title
Account Opening Process
Step 1: Confirm Actions Required
- Go to the Event Details page in the app and check the Action Required prompt.
- GDM will list the actions you need to complete. Follow the instructions carefully.
Step 2: PlanHolder Account Open
- Prepare the required materials: Have a clear photo of the PlanHolder's driver's license ready.
- Access the account opening page:Click "Continue" , enter into the Stripe third-party page,and then fill in the PlanHolder's personal information and submit it to open account.
- Important: Only the PlanHolder's information can be entered. If not, GDM will block the account opening process.
- Check account status: Return to the GDM app to view the account opening status.
- Account Status:
- Account open successfully : The process is complete.
Step 3: CarOwner Account Setup
- Choose the payment recipient: Go to the Event Details page in the app and select the repair funds recipient (CarOwner or PlanHolder).
- Submit verification materials: Submit the required materials based on your selection (refer to section 2.2 CarOwner Verification Materials).
- Wait for verification results:
- While waiting for the manual review, you can start the account opening process if the chosen recipient does not yet have an account.
- GDM will display a prompt to complete the account opening for the selected recipient.
- CarOwner Account Open:Click "Continue" , enter into the Stripe third-party page,and then fill in the CarOwner's personal information and submit it to open account.
- Important: Only the CarOwner's information can be entered. If not, GDM will block the account opening process.
- PlanHolder Account Open: Follow the steps outlined in (3.2 PlanHolder Account Open)
- Check account status: Return to the GDM app to view the account opening status.
- Account and Verification Status:
- Account open successfully and manual review approved: The repair fund's account opening process for settlement is complete.
